Kendo Kata (2)
Note: For more information about the Nihon Kendo Kata and the Nihon Koreisha, see Nihon Kendo Kata (1). The video clip shows the second kata in the sequence of the Ohdachi forms (Ohdachi no kata), called Nihonme (or "Form Number Two").The two participants face each other in chuudan no kamae (middle level) position. They approach each other and establish a striking range. At that point, the initial attacker attempts a strike. The attack is avoided by a linear move backwards and a quick recovery forwards, resulting in a counter strike. Both participants then display zanshin (alert watchfulness) as they return back to their original distance and position. |
