Okinawa Shorin-ryu: Kon (Bo) techniques

Odo bo animation

In the Okinawan dialect, the bo (approx. six foot long oak staff) is called "kon." In this series of images, Odo Seikichi sensei of Okinawa Shorin-ryu demonstrates some striking movements from a Okinawa kobudo bo (kon) kata. Odo sensei was in Hawaii in the early 1990s when this series of photographs was taken. To see this animation again, hit the "refresh" button on your browser. Note the way Odo sensei uses his forearms and body to control the bo strikes.

Again, you are free to download the animation and use it on your own personal computer, but it is copyrighted material and may not be used for your own publication, web, or other public usage unless given written permission by Tengu Press.
