Toda-ha Buko-ryu Naginata

The Toda-ha Buko-ryu is an ancient koryu that focuses on the use of the naginata. It is characterized by a very long, heavy naginata. This is in contrast to the lighter naginata seen in such styles as the Jikishinkage-ryu naginata, Tendo-ryu naginata, and the seitei gata gakko (standardized) naginata. Diane Skoss, shown here demonstrating the form, is publisher of Koryu Books. Along with her husband Meik, she is one of only a handful of Japanese and non-Japanese students of the system, and certainly one of the very rare few who has gotten to any advanced level in the style. Any inquiries about training in this art should be directed to her at KoryuBooks. (How's that for a plug?)

My apologies for the junky green light. I was videotaping it under very bad lighting conditions at Camp Erdman on a night full of mosquitoes.
